Rusted Shed and Some Pet Shots

09.12.09

Here are some pictures I took today. The ones of the rusted shed are from my neighbors yard behind me. Then I snapped a few pics of the pets as I came in. I decided to try to start a 365 project but am not limiting myself to just one picture a day. We’ll see where it goes from here.

I also picked up a Delkin Snug It Pro Skin for my Rebel XSi. I’ll take some pictures and review it when I get it. I wanted something I could put on to give me some more protection when I go on a boat or to the beach.

Dry Dock iPhone Pic

Here’s a picture I took with my iPhone at a Dry Dock the other day. It didn’t come out that great but after a little editing in Lightroom and Photoshop it looks pretty good. I also took out the two guys walking across the frame.

Lily Pics

08.17.09

Here are some pictures of a lily I took today. My mom wanted to print one of the other ones I took so I wanted to reshoot some to get them sharper. This time I used a tripod, set my camera to Mirror Lock and then used a remote set to a 2 second timer to take the pictures. I also bought some fake velvet fabric from Hancock Fabrics ($8 for 2 yards) to use as a background which I just taped to the wall. No flash used, just played around with aperture settings and then a little post in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I forgot to set my white balance but was able to fix that in Lightroom after since I shot them in RAW format.

This is my favorite from the set.

Saturday Fishing Report

10.11.08

I had not been out on the kayak in a while so I decided to take it out this morning. I got to the boat launch at Weedon Island just after 6AM. I didn’t have as much luck as I was hoping. I wound up fishing from the launch all the way to Mile 2 Marker of the trail, but going backwards. There was one are that I thought I saw a bunch of tailing redfish so I got a pinfish on and chased them down. I could see the school’s wake in the water moving around. At first I didn’t get a bite but they came back around and they one took it. I found it for what seemed to be 5 minutes…probably more like 2 or 3. It was pulling me all around which was pretty fun. It wound up being a pretty big Jack Kravel. The next and only fish I caught was a 20 inch snook. I was following the trail backwards just exploring and I came out of some mangroves into an open area that had 3 boats (not kayaks) out fishing. I cruised in really slow close to one of the mangrove lines just checking out the water. As usual there was mullet jumping all over the place. I found a nice point right where the mile 2 sign is and anchors away from it. On about my third cast I was under and I realized it was a nice snook. He put up a really good fight and I must say, it felt pretty good just to cruise up there and pull in this snook. I saw all the other boats looking over checking me out. THAT’S HOW IT’S DONE! After that I worked my way back. I had another couple of nice bites but missed them. All in all, it was great to get out on the water. I didn’t get back until a little after 1PM and used up all 24 pinfish I came out with. Here are a couple of pictures from today. Click here to view all of the pictures.

My kayak and the sandbar I always stop at. Someone put an American Flag in it which you can see way behind my kayak.

Friday, Back On The Water

09.28.08

My friend, his fiance and I went out Friday on his boat for the first time in a while. I thought we’d be a little rusty but I was able to get great bait fairly quick, even though the cast net got stuck on a pylon which sucks. I caught two snook, a jack and a lady fish. I missed 5 MONSTER fish. One was in a new spot and we’re thinking it was a big snook because of the speed it was taking the line out but we didn’t see it. Another one I saw was for sure a giant jack that popped off after a minute or two. All in all, it was a great day. Definitely good to be back on the water. Click here to check out the pictures.
