Iron Man Review

Iron Man Trailer

I went to see Iron Man today. Overall I thought it was pretty entertaining. In the beginning, it started with him driving in a Humvee caravan which gets attacked and they take him as a prisoner. Then they go back 36 hours before that and basically catch you up with who Tony Stark (Iron Man) is. The go all the way up to when he is captured and then continue from there. I didn’t really get the point of that, why not just start from the beginning in the first place. If you can get past a few things like how quickly be built both Iron Man suits then it was a decent movie.

I didn’t read the Iron Man comics as a kid so I don’t know how closely the movie followed the original story. In this movie, Tony Stark is the son of Howard Stark who helped build the atomic bomb. He takes over the company and continues to be the top weapons manufacture in the world. After he is captured, the terrorist force him to build the latest weapon he was showing the US Military. Instead he builds the first Iron Man suit and breaks out. He sees they have a lot of his company’s weapons so he blows them all up and flies off. After he gets back, he has a press conference stating Stark Enterprises will no longer manufacture weapons. His partner, Obadiah Stane, tells him to lay low and let him handle things with the board members when he is the actual one selling weapons to the terrorists. He was also the one that hired them to kill Tony Stark. Obadiah winds up getting the scrap parts from the first Iron Man suit and building his own. Tony also built a new suit while laying low. To power the suit Obadiah built, he needed the small arc reactor that Tony built. He goes to his home, uses some paralyzing sound device and takes the reactor out of Tony. Tony’s ARMY friend shows up in time to put in the original reactor to save Tony’s life. Then it was time for the showdown. Tony gets into his suit and flies over to meet up with Iron Monger (Obadiah). They go at it for a while and with the help of Tony’s assistant, they blow up a giant arc reactor which kills Obadiah. In the end, the CIA and ARMY want Tony to downplay what happened at a press conference giving him cue cards to read from which he doesn’t, telling the press that he is Iron Man. Expect to see a sequel for sure.

Embedding Picasa Web Albums On Your Site

05.24.08

I’ve been using Google’s Picasa Web Albums but really wanted a way to actually embed the whole gallery on my own site. With a few searched today I found just that and it works perfectly. I adjusted the code a little to fit my site design but it was pretty easy. You download one JS file, upload that to your server, and then drop a couple of lines of code on your site. Here are links to all the information to do i t yourself.

My New Dog Nola

05.23.08

In Feb. I adopted a new dog. I went to the Tampa Bay Humane Society looking for a puppy. They only had one 8 week old half lab/half pitbull puppy. She was sleeping and didn’t seem like she wanted to play so I looked around but then went to another local kennel. They had a few puppies there but they all had one or two applications on them already. So on the way home I stopped back at the Humane Society to check out that puppy again. This time she was awake and playful. I took her out to the meeting around and played around with her for a little while and realized she was the one.

Her original name was Mable but I came up with Nola while I was waiting for all my paperwork to be done. There was a Cuban girl waiting for a cat and I overheard her saying to her friend that she was naming her cat Lola. But with her accent I thought she said Nola. And being that I’m from New Orleans, I thought that would be a pretty cool name for my new puppy. After hearing her say it a few more times I realized she was saying Lola.

I have to say she’s a great dog. The people at the Humane Society said a few people came to look at her but since he was part pitbull no one wanted her. She’s turned out to be a very sweet dog. I went through 6 weeks of puppy training classes at Petco with her which helped out a lot. Here she is today at 21 weeks old.

Site Update

05.23.08

I have had this domain since sometime in 2004. The previous owner was/is a radio announcer in Pensacola, no relation. I’ve used it to pretty much just post random things every so often. Since I’ve started USA Carry I’ve been pretty busy and haven’t done anything with this site. I’ve really just used it to link other sites I want to help get picked up in Google and other search engines, which explains all the random links on the main page.

So it is Friday, May 23, 2008 and I’ve decided to update the design a little. I also plan to start posting more here. I’ll continue to post the humor, news, or other random things I get sent from family and friends everyday. I also plan on posting information about the domaining and search engine optimization I’ve been learning over the years but am primarily focused on now.
