In Feb. I adopted a new dog. I went to the Tampa Bay Humane Society looking for a puppy. They only had one 8 week old half lab/half pitbull puppy. She was sleeping and didn’t seem like she wanted to play so I looked around but then went to another local kennel. They had a few puppies there but they all had one or two applications on them already. So on the way home I stopped back at the Humane Society to check out that puppy again. This time she was awake and playful. I took her out to the meeting around and played around with her for a little while and realized she was the one.

Her original name was Mable but I came up with Nola while I was waiting for all my paperwork to be done. There was a Cuban girl waiting for a cat and I overheard her saying to her friend that she was naming her cat Lola. But with her accent I thought she said Nola. And being that I’m from New Orleans, I thought that would be a pretty cool name for my new puppy. After hearing her say it a few more times I realized she was saying Lola.

I have to say she’s a great dog. The people at the Humane Society said a few people came to look at her but since he was part pitbull no one wanted her. She’s turned out to be a very sweet dog. I went through 6 weeks of puppy training classes at Petco with her which helped out a lot. Here she is today at 21 weeks old.
